The Roman Conquest… After 10 years of introducing kids to all that Italy has to offer in the Renaissance city of Florence, the Medieval walled town of Lucca, La Serenissima Republic of Venice with its stunning merchant palazzi and glass blowing artisans, along with countryside castles and ancient Etruscan art in the Umbrian countryside… We felt it was high time that Arte al Sole conquers Rome. We have developed our unique, inquiry-based curriculum with expert local docents where kids will be given ample opportunity to explore their own visions, ideas, and interests as they learn and engage with Rome, both ancient and modern. Families can enjoy a skip-the-line tour to into the Colosseum, before meeting our art docent who will help kids construct their very own version, while parents carry on with our guide through the Forum. Kids will gain a better understanding of what it took to turn the Colosseum into the great monument still standing today.TIME 3 HRS • includes tour + art project. MYTHS & LEGENDS & SYMBOLS OF POWER SKETCH TOUR: ROME’S CAPITOLINE HILL Crowning one of the seven hills of Rome, Italy’s capital still stands. Families will hear about the legends & stories surrounding this place that has seen so much since the arrival of Romulus & Remus on its banks. Kids will embark on a sketch hunt to uncover Rome’s symbols of power from ancient times to today surrounding the piazza designed by none other than Michelangelo. After taking in a spectacular view of the entire Forum, parents can enjoy a refreshment atop the stark white Vittorio Emanuele Monument built for a united Italy’s first king while the kids sketch their own capitol hill and family crests.

ANCIENT GATEWAY TO THE WORLD: THE APPIAN WAY Family Tour & Acrylic Painting Project All roads may lead to Rome, but this one was the first to lead out of it, stretching across the peninsula where soldiers would embark to foreign lands. We will meet near the Baths of Caracalla – and venture inside & atop the defensive wall of Rome. From there, we’ll head up the Appian Way, past the catacombs to take in the Roman landscape. Families will trod upon the ancient flagstones of the Appian Way, hear about its construction and the great families who once lived along it. While kids dive into a guided art project, parents can enjoy a relaxing walk or refreshment before going to visit other monuments or sites (Circus Maximus is just minutes away).TIME 3 HRS • Meet up for Walking Tour/Art Project [Option: Driver picks up & Drops Off] All materials included 290 euro walking tour with docent + art project • 2-4 ppl | 40 euro/pp extra.
OPTIONAL: Pickup & Dropoff / Walking Tour / Art Project • 160 euro w/private driver [taxis about 15 euro frm city center]THE APPIAN WAY: OF GLADIATORS & CHARIOT RACES After visiting the Museo nella Mura – The Museum inside the Wall that once protected the City of Rome at the top of the Appian Way, we’ll head over to the Mausoleum of Massenzio where we’ll explore the ancient grounds that once would have held games and races within its circus. Kids will learn about the dress of centurions, emperors and common fighters and learn to draw their own action figures and chariots, acquiring specific techniques with our Arte al Sole artist before meeting up with parents along the Appian Way.TIME 3 HRS • 290 euro walking tour with docent + art project • 2-4 ppl | 40 euro/pp extra. All materials included.OPTIONAL: Pickup & Dropoff / Walking Tour / Art Project • 160 euro w/private driver [taxis about 15 euro frm city center]THE BRIDGES OF ROME & THE MIGHTY TIBER RIVER A walking tour and art project leading from the Temples of Hercules Victor and Portunus across from Rome’s famed Mouth of Truth – Bocca della Verità. Families will hear about places along the Tiber and the stories of the river itself. From there, we’ll chekc out the bridges and water flows of the Tiber and hear about the floods, the plague and Cleopatra’s arrival. The tour ends with watercoloring our very own bridge, completing the Broken Bridge – Ponte Rotto that marks the end of Tiber Island. Our art tour ends at the gelateria located here. Parents can stop for refreshments and snacks while the kids work on their art projects from this amazing vantage point along the fast-flowing Tiber River.TIME 1.5 HRS • 190 euro art/docent project • 2-4 ppl

MYSTERY, MACHINES & MOSAICS Families will be taken to one of the most fascinating and little known museums in all of Rome, a mixture of machinery & ancient statues. Here, we’ll feast our eyes on massive mosaics & much much more before going to our exclusive Mosaic Lab where families will hear about the traditional designs of ancient times and make their own mosaic pieces to take home.TIME 3 HRS • 445 euro tour with docent + art project • 2-4 ppl | 40 euro/pp extra.
